Narrative:

Prior to reaching duffe intersection on R576 I had to leave the cockpit for physiological needs. At this time I informed the first officer that 'you have control F the aircraft. I have to use the restroom.' upon reentering the cockpit I noticed that we had descended from FL310 to FL300 and was informed that we had been given a new clearance by ATC to proceed present position direct bambo intersection and to FL300. A few mins later the first officer informed me that he had been trying to call honolulu radio unsuccessfully prior to denns and then after crossing denns intersection the aircraft evidently started a shallow left turn and that he had not noticed this. He then received a cll from honolulu radio to call honolulu center. Once contact was established with center he was advised that he was 25 mi south of denns intersection (he should have turned to the west). At this time center issued the new clearance. A few mins later center called and requested that we contact them by telephone after we landed. I called as requested and was advised by phone that the aircraft had drifted approximately 25 mi south of denns intersection and that they had to issue a new clearance to avoid a possible conflict with another aircraft proceeding to ebber intersection. I was informed that we had crossed over denns intersection and after this is when the problem of heading south began.

Narrative: PRIOR TO REACHING DUFFE INTXN ON R576 I HAD TO LEAVE THE COCKPIT FOR PHYSIOLOGICAL NEEDS. AT THIS TIME I INFORMED THE FO THAT 'YOU HAVE CTL F THE ACFT. I HAVE TO USE THE RESTROOM.' UPON REENTERING THE COCKPIT I NOTICED THAT WE HAD DSNDED FROM FL310 TO FL300 AND WAS INFORMED THAT WE HAD BEEN GIVEN A NEW CLRNC BY ATC TO PROCEED PRESENT POS DIRECT BAMBO INTXN AND TO FL300. A FEW MINS LATER THE FO INFORMED ME THAT HE HAD BEEN TRYING TO CALL HONOLULU RADIO UNSUCCESSFULLY PRIOR TO DENNS AND THEN AFTER XING DENNS INTXN THE ACFT EVIDENTLY STARTED A SHALLOW L TURN AND THAT HE HAD NOT NOTICED THIS. HE THEN RECEIVED A CLL FROM HONOLULU RADIO TO CALL HONOLULU CTR. ONCE CONTACT WAS ESTABLISHED WITH CTR HE WAS ADVISED THAT HE WAS 25 MI S OF DENNS INTXN (HE SHOULD HAVE TURNED TO THE W). AT THIS TIME CTR ISSUED THE NEW CLRNC. A FEW MINS LATER CTR CALLED AND REQUESTED THAT WE CONTACT THEM BY TELEPHONE AFTER WE LANDED. I CALLED AS REQUESTED AND WAS ADVISED BY PHONE THAT THE ACFT HAD DRIFTED APPROX 25 MI S OF DENNS INTXN AND THAT THEY HAD TO ISSUE A NEW CLRNC TO AVOID A POSSIBLE CONFLICT WITH ANOTHER ACFT PROCEEDING TO EBBER INTXN. I WAS INFORMED THAT WE HAD CROSSED OVER DENNS INTXN AND AFTER THIS IS WHEN THE PROBLEM OF HDG S BEGAN.
