Narrative:

Sign at end of runway said IFR departures contact 127.7 for clearance. I did. I was cleared 'as filed, contact 120.9 after departure.' I took off (unicom field) called 120.9 and said with you at 300 ft. Controller said 'you're not cleared.' I said I contacted 120.9 as instructed when airborne. She said I should have contacted them (120.9) before takeoff. I said I was doing as instructed by 127.7. She seemed more interested in lecturing me, instead of clearing up the confusion. If I was not cleared in her mind, a simple 'remain VFR, awaiting clearance' would have been simple, considering conditions.

Title: SMA PLT HAS CLRNC INTERP PROBLEM AND PERFORMS TKOF FROM NON TWR ARPT UNICOM PRIOR TO ATC CLRNC BEING ACTIVATED RELEASE TIME.

Narrative: SIGN AT END OF RWY SAID IFR DEPS CONTACT 127.7 FOR CLRNC. I DID. I WAS CLRED 'AS FILED, CONTACT 120.9 AFTER DEP.' I TOOK OFF (UNICOM FIELD) CALLED 120.9 AND SAID WITH YOU AT 300 FT. CTLR SAID 'YOU'RE NOT CLRED.' I SAID I CONTACTED 120.9 AS INSTRUCTED WHEN AIRBORNE. SHE SAID I SHOULD HAVE CONTACTED THEM (120.9) BEFORE TKOF. I SAID I WAS DOING AS INSTRUCTED BY 127.7. SHE SEEMED MORE INTERESTED IN LECTURING ME, INSTEAD OF CLRING UP THE CONFUSION. IF I WAS NOT CLRED IN HER MIND, A SIMPLE 'REMAIN VFR, AWAITING CLRNC' WOULD HAVE BEEN SIMPLE, CONSIDERING CONDITIONS.
