Narrative:

During the landing rollout tower instructed us to exit the runway at 'an upcoming high speed taxiway, turn around, back taxi on the parallel runway and contact ground control.' as I was maneuvering onto the parallel the copilot contacted ground control and received instructions to hold short of the intersection of our runway and a crossing one just ahead. He then began his routine after landing duties: reading the appropriate checklist and calling for gate assignment. Preoccupied with taxiing onto the runway, I did not hear the ground controller's instruction to hold short. The first officer did not notice I had not read back any hold short advisory per our company's policy. As we approached the intersection I noticed an aircraft in position to takeoff. Unsure of his intentions, I stopped the taxi just short of the crossing runway. When I asked ground if they'd wanted us to hold short they said they had but now we could just go ahead and cross. Lack of crew coordination was the biggest problem here. Our company policy requires that the pilot at the controls read back all headings, altitudes, airspds and hold short clrncs. Had this policy been observed and checked we would have been able to observe the restriction and stop further back from the intersection. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: called reporter reference structured callback program for runway incursion study. Reporter does not wish to participate. Clarified reporter's landing and taxiing runways. They did get close but not onto the runway which they were supposed to hold short of. Aircraft Y had not started takeoff roll.

Title: RWY INCURSION BY ACR. POTENTIAL CONFLICT. PLTDEV.

Narrative: DURING THE LNDG ROLLOUT TWR INSTRUCTED US TO EXIT THE RWY AT 'AN UPCOMING HIGH SPD TAXIWAY, TURN AROUND, BACK TAXI ON THE PARALLEL RWY AND CONTACT GND CTL.' AS I WAS MANEUVERING ONTO THE PARALLEL THE COPLT CONTACTED GND CTL AND RECEIVED INSTRUCTIONS TO HOLD SHORT OF THE INTXN OF OUR RWY AND A XING ONE JUST AHEAD. HE THEN BEGAN HIS ROUTINE AFTER LNDG DUTIES: READING THE APPROPRIATE CHKLIST AND CALLING FOR GATE ASSIGNMENT. PREOCCUPIED WITH TAXIING ONTO THE RWY, I DID NOT HEAR THE GND CTLR'S INSTRUCTION TO HOLD SHORT. THE FO DID NOT NOTICE I HAD NOT READ BACK ANY HOLD SHORT ADVISORY PER OUR COMPANY'S POLICY. AS WE APCHED THE INTXN I NOTICED AN ACFT IN POS TO TKOF. UNSURE OF HIS INTENTIONS, I STOPPED THE TAXI JUST SHORT OF THE XING RWY. WHEN I ASKED GND IF THEY'D WANTED US TO HOLD SHORT THEY SAID THEY HAD BUT NOW WE COULD JUST GO AHEAD AND CROSS. LACK OF CREW COORD WAS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM HERE. OUR COMPANY POLICY REQUIRES THAT THE PLT AT THE CTLS READ BACK ALL HDGS, ALTS, AIRSPDS AND HOLD SHORT CLRNCS. HAD THIS POLICY BEEN OBSERVED AND CHKED WE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO OBSERVE THE RESTRICTION AND STOP FURTHER BACK FROM THE INTXN. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: CALLED RPTR REF STRUCTURED CALLBACK PROGRAM FOR RWY INCURSION STUDY. RPTR DOES NOT WISH TO PARTICIPATE. CLARIFIED RPTR'S LNDG AND TAXIING RWYS. THEY DID GET CLOSE BUT NOT ONTO THE RWY WHICH THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO HOLD SHORT OF. ACFT Y HAD NOT STARTED TKOF ROLL.
