Narrative:

Aircraft were landing outboard parallel runway and departing inboard parallel runway. After clearing landing runway, I taxied to hold short of inboard runway. The time of day produced bright sun low in the sky and directly in our face. This situation tended to 'bleach' out the taxiway and runway markings. Tower repeated hold short instructions. I immediately put on brakes. Aircraft was just short of runway, but closer than normal. After aircraft departed, we were cleared to cross runway and contact ground. The bright sun in our face and bleachout condition produced confusion of exact position and reference to departing runway. Greater combined effort of crew members and less split duties would have produced better awareness of position.

Title: FLC OF MLG HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 22R AT EWR MAY HAVE TAXIED PAST THE HOLD SHORT LINE.

Narrative: ACFT WERE LNDG OUTBOARD PARALLEL RWY AND DEPARTING INBOARD PARALLEL RWY. AFTER CLRING LNDG RWY, I TAXIED TO HOLD SHORT OF INBOARD RWY. THE TIME OF DAY PRODUCED BRIGHT SUN LOW IN THE SKY AND DIRECTLY IN OUR FACE. THIS SITUATION TENDED TO 'BLEACH' OUT THE TAXIWAY AND RWY MARKINGS. TWR REPEATED HOLD SHORT INSTRUCTIONS. I IMMEDIATELY PUT ON BRAKES. ACFT WAS JUST SHORT OF RWY, BUT CLOSER THAN NORMAL. AFTER ACFT DEPARTED, WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS RWY AND CONTACT GND. THE BRIGHT SUN IN OUR FACE AND BLEACHOUT CONDITION PRODUCED CONFUSION OF EXACT POS AND REF TO DEPARTING RWY. GREATER COMBINED EFFORT OF CREW MEMBERS AND LESS SPLIT DUTIES WOULD HAVE PRODUCED BETTER AWARENESS OF POS.
