Narrative:

On final approach in a rain shower (maybe a circuit breaker) our windshear alert system activated. The captain immediately pushed the throttles full forward and raised the nose. We lost 17 KTS, but because we were flying bug plus 13 and even slightly faster than that, our 17 KT loss equated to only reference minus 2. Aircraft climb performance was excellent. We executed a missed approach. We then landed on 16R. Throughout this event, airport perimeter winds were about 180/05.
