Narrative:

An unexpected, low altitude restriction issued immediately after takeoff, not understood the same by all crew members, conversion of clearance in meters to ft led to wrong NAVAID (ADF) on needles. Proceeded on wrong heading for a short time. Then proceeded toward correct station, controller instructed turn away from this station. More confusion resulted. Later our company operations told us that shanghai approach reported we had flown through restr airspace and crossed the approach to a military airport.
