Narrative:

Air carrier X after landing, given taxi to ramp via U and east. Saw men and a truck at intersection, at edge, outside lights. Informed ground. He told us to continue around them. We had good clearance so I did. Ground later apologized, saying also that he hadn't known they were out there painting. Supplemental information from acn 187346: air carrier X during taxi to the ramp on taxiway U, ground controller cleared us to taxi north on U, then west on east to the ramp. After instructions were issued I saw a truck and 2 men on taxiways U and east. I asked ground control about the truck and persons, he replied 'can you taxi on U to east around them'. I replied 'yes there appears to be enough room'. After taxiing as cleared onto the ramp, ground controller advised us the taxiway U was closed for painting and he was sorry about the instruction to taxi on a closed taxiway.

Narrative: ACR X AFTER LNDG, GIVEN TAXI TO RAMP VIA U AND E. SAW MEN AND A TRUCK AT INTXN, AT EDGE, OUTSIDE LIGHTS. INFORMED GND. HE TOLD US TO CONTINUE AROUND THEM. WE HAD GOOD CLRNC SO I DID. GND LATER APOLOGIZED, SAYING ALSO THAT HE HADN'T KNOWN THEY WERE OUT THERE PAINTING. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 187346: ACR X DURING TAXI TO THE RAMP ON TAXIWAY U, GND CTLR CLRED US TO TAXI N ON U, THEN W ON E TO THE RAMP. AFTER INSTRUCTIONS WERE ISSUED I SAW A TRUCK AND 2 MEN ON TAXIWAYS U AND E. I ASKED GND CTL ABOUT THE TRUCK AND PERSONS, HE REPLIED 'CAN YOU TAXI ON U TO E AROUND THEM'. I REPLIED 'YES THERE APPEARS TO BE ENOUGH ROOM'. AFTER TAXIING AS CLRED ONTO THE RAMP, GND CTLR ADVISED US THE TAXIWAY U WAS CLOSED FOR PAINTING AND HE WAS SORRY ABOUT THE INSTRUCTION TO TAXI ON A CLOSED TAXIWAY.
