Narrative:

We landed 28R, cleared at the highspd and were instructed to hold short of 28L. While holding short, we heard another aircraft cleared to hold short of 28L on highspd (presumably behind us). After delay of several mins (in which at least 1 aircraft who had landed behind us on 28R was cleared to cross 28L at east) we were told to go easy on the power account aircraft behind us and cleared to cross 28L, call ground 121.8. I asked the copilot to clarify aircraft type behind us. Tower advised it was an medium large transport. We crossed, called ground and were asked to call tower supervisor after we blocked. As an aside to this, we had shut down #1 and #4 engines while holding short. Therefore, we were slow to cross when cleared and an air carrier large transport had to go around. When I called the supervisor she said we didn't have a clearance to cross. She said she'd check the tape and I could call back in 1 hour. I did, and she said she wouldn't be able to check till the next day. I went home, called the tower again and talked to another supervisor who agreed to listen to the tape. He called back and stated 'we didn't have a clearance', but that we did read back 'cleared to cross 28L, contact ground'. He also said he would not have cautioned us on the power unless it was included in a crossing clearance. He further stated that no separation problem existed and that they were taking no further action.

Title: HVT HOLDING ON CROSS OVER TAXIWAY WITH 2 ENG SHUTDOWN RECEIVED CLRNC TO CROSS RWY CAREFUL OF PWR BECAUSE OF MLG HOLDING BEHIND THE HVT. TWR GND CTLR ALLEGED HAD NOT GIVEN CLRNC TO RPTR FLC.

Narrative: WE LANDED 28R, CLRED AT THE HIGHSPD AND WERE INSTRUCTED TO HOLD SHORT OF 28L. WHILE HOLDING SHORT, WE HEARD ANOTHER ACFT CLRED TO HOLD SHORT OF 28L ON HIGHSPD (PRESUMABLY BEHIND US). AFTER DELAY OF SEVERAL MINS (IN WHICH AT LEAST 1 ACFT WHO HAD LANDED BEHIND US ON 28R WAS CLRED TO CROSS 28L AT E) WE WERE TOLD TO GO EASY ON THE PWR ACCOUNT ACFT BEHIND US AND CLRED TO CROSS 28L, CALL GND 121.8. I ASKED THE COPLT TO CLARIFY ACFT TYPE BEHIND US. TWR ADVISED IT WAS AN MLG. WE CROSSED, CALLED GND AND WERE ASKED TO CALL TWR SUPVR AFTER WE BLOCKED. AS AN ASIDE TO THIS, WE HAD SHUT DOWN #1 AND #4 ENGS WHILE HOLDING SHORT. THEREFORE, WE WERE SLOW TO CROSS WHEN CLRED AND AN ACR LGT HAD TO GAR. WHEN I CALLED THE SUPVR SHE SAID WE DIDN'T HAVE A CLRNC TO CROSS. SHE SAID SHE'D CHK THE TAPE AND I COULD CALL BACK IN 1 HR. I DID, AND SHE SAID SHE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO CHK TILL THE NEXT DAY. I WENT HOME, CALLED THE TWR AGAIN AND TALKED TO ANOTHER SUPVR WHO AGREED TO LISTEN TO THE TAPE. HE CALLED BACK AND STATED 'WE DIDN'T HAVE A CLRNC', BUT THAT WE DID READ BACK 'CLRED TO CROSS 28L, CONTACT GND'. HE ALSO SAID HE WOULD NOT HAVE CAUTIONED US ON THE PWR UNLESS IT WAS INCLUDED IN A XING CLRNC. HE FURTHER STATED THAT NO SEPARATION PROBLEM EXISTED AND THAT THEY WERE TAKING NO FURTHER ACTION.
