Narrative:

I landed wheels up, gross pilot error -- no excuses. The final reason why the incident occurred was that my attention was diverted from the 'gumps' checklist because the previous landing was not particularly good and I was concentrating hard on doing it right this time. Fortunately, little damage and thank god, no injuries. A couple of things contributed: I was using a noise attenuating headset, and while I had heard the 'gear up' horn during simulated emergency lndgs, the only horn usually heard on landing is stall warning. The gear up is much louder and I did hear it, but it did not register possibly because the sound was muffled by the headset. Corrective actions to be taken: 1) use separate landing checklist and not rely on 'gumps' check. 2) install annunciator light on panel to be activated at same time as gear up horn. 3) wire gear up horn to headsets.

Title: GEAR UP LNDG IN SMA.

Narrative: I LANDED WHEELS UP, GROSS PLT ERROR -- NO EXCUSES. THE FINAL REASON WHY THE INCIDENT OCCURRED WAS THAT MY ATTN WAS DIVERTED FROM THE 'GUMPS' CHKLIST BECAUSE THE PREVIOUS LNDG WAS NOT PARTICULARLY GOOD AND I WAS CONCENTRATING HARD ON DOING IT RIGHT THIS TIME. FORTUNATELY, LITTLE DAMAGE AND THANK GOD, NO INJURIES. A COUPLE OF THINGS CONTRIBUTED: I WAS USING A NOISE ATTENUATING HEADSET, AND WHILE I HAD HEARD THE 'GEAR UP' HORN DURING SIMULATED EMER LNDGS, THE ONLY HORN USUALLY HEARD ON LNDG IS STALL WARNING. THE GEAR UP IS MUCH LOUDER AND I DID HEAR IT, BUT IT DID NOT REGISTER POSSIBLY BECAUSE THE SOUND WAS MUFFLED BY THE HEADSET. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN: 1) USE SEPARATE LNDG CHKLIST AND NOT RELY ON 'GUMPS' CHK. 2) INSTALL ANNUNCIATOR LIGHT ON PANEL TO BE ACTIVATED AT SAME TIME AS GEAR UP HORN. 3) WIRE GEAR UP HORN TO HEADSETS.
