Narrative:

Aircraft was preflted. Crew went inside and gave a ramp time. Aircraft was ramped. Crew inspected fuel caps, nose gear pin and I completed a quick walk around which included looking at each inlet for foreign objects. Passenger arrived. Crew started right hand engine first. Shut down engine due to abrupt noise. Secured aircraft. Found linemen's hand held radio laying on ramp in pieces. Engine showed evidence of radio parts through entire engine. Lineman admitted to laying radio in engine inlet, so he would not scratch paint.

Title: ENG INGESTION OF RADIO LEFT AT ENG INLET BY LINEMAN.

Narrative: ACFT WAS PREFLTED. CREW WENT INSIDE AND GAVE A RAMP TIME. ACFT WAS RAMPED. CREW INSPECTED FUEL CAPS, NOSE GEAR PIN AND I COMPLETED A QUICK WALK AROUND WHICH INCLUDED LOOKING AT EACH INLET FOR FOREIGN OBJECTS. PAX ARRIVED. CREW STARTED R HAND ENG FIRST. SHUT DOWN ENG DUE TO ABRUPT NOISE. SECURED ACFT. FOUND LINEMEN'S HAND HELD RADIO LAYING ON RAMP IN PIECES. ENG SHOWED EVIDENCE OF RADIO PARTS THROUGH ENTIRE ENG. LINEMAN ADMITTED TO LAYING RADIO IN ENG INLET, SO HE WOULD NOT SCRATCH PAINT.
