Narrative:

I was ferrying southbound through an unpopulated area at 500' AGL when I noticed a warbird MTR taking off to the south, below me and just to my left from a small grass field strip not marked on the charts. I thought it was an unusually long takeoff run, until it did a sharp pull up and 90 degree turn to this right and was on collision course with myself. I made an evasive climbing right turn realizing the MTR pilot had held it in ground effect to gain speed then proceeded with the right 90 degree turn and a left 270 degree and dove back down and turned on the smoke as he fuzzed the strip he'd taken off from and continued north. Since the evasive turn I'd done put me on course toward a small town I'd turned left and was observing the MTR. That's when I thought 'boy, what a wimpy smoker.' since my aircraft was equipped with a smoker that produces much more smoke and the MTR was no longer a factor I (for some unknown reason) decided to do the same maneuver and turned on the smoke and began to dive toward the grass strip. I then noticed a small group of spectators and remembered I shouldn't get any closer than 500' since I wasn't planning on landing, so I abandoned the approach and departed to the south a couple of miles and as I was circling a friend's farm house the MTR joined me on the opp side of the house and began to circle. I decided that was getting close to formation flying west/O prior arrangement and departed to the south. The MTR followed for awhile then left. Although there never was a close conflict. I thought I'd report anyway.

Title: CLOSE PROX 2 GA ACFT IN UNCONTROLLED AIRSPACE.

Narrative: I WAS FERRYING SBND THROUGH AN UNPOPULATED AREA AT 500' AGL WHEN I NOTICED A WARBIRD MTR TAKING OFF TO THE S, BELOW ME AND JUST TO MY LEFT FROM A SMALL GRASS FIELD STRIP NOT MARKED ON THE CHARTS. I THOUGHT IT WAS AN UNUSUALLY LONG TKOF RUN, UNTIL IT DID A SHARP PULL UP AND 90 DEG TURN TO THIS RIGHT AND WAS ON COLLISION COURSE WITH MYSELF. I MADE AN EVASIVE CLBING RIGHT TURN REALIZING THE MTR PLT HAD HELD IT IN GND EFFECT TO GAIN SPD THEN PROCEEDED WITH THE RIGHT 90 DEG TURN AND A LEFT 270 DEG AND DOVE BACK DOWN AND TURNED ON THE SMOKE AS HE FUZZED THE STRIP HE'D TAKEN OFF FROM AND CONTINUED N. SINCE THE EVASIVE TURN I'D DONE PUT ME ON COURSE TOWARD A SMALL TOWN I'D TURNED LEFT AND WAS OBSERVING THE MTR. THAT'S WHEN I THOUGHT 'BOY, WHAT A WIMPY SMOKER.' SINCE MY ACFT WAS EQUIPPED WITH A SMOKER THAT PRODUCES MUCH MORE SMOKE AND THE MTR WAS NO LONGER A FACTOR I (FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON) DECIDED TO DO THE SAME MANEUVER AND TURNED ON THE SMOKE AND BEGAN TO DIVE TOWARD THE GRASS STRIP. I THEN NOTICED A SMALL GROUP OF SPECTATORS AND REMEMBERED I SHOULDN'T GET ANY CLOSER THAN 500' SINCE I WASN'T PLANNING ON LNDG, SO I ABANDONED THE APCH AND DEPARTED TO THE S A COUPLE OF MILES AND AS I WAS CIRCLING A FRIEND'S FARM HOUSE THE MTR JOINED ME ON THE OPP SIDE OF THE HOUSE AND BEGAN TO CIRCLE. I DECIDED THAT WAS GETTING CLOSE TO FORMATION FLYING W/O PRIOR ARRANGEMENT AND DEPARTED TO THE S. THE MTR FOLLOWED FOR AWHILE THEN LEFT. ALTHOUGH THERE NEVER WAS A CLOSE CONFLICT. I THOUGHT I'D RPT ANYWAY.
