Narrative:

Pulling into gate in lax with 2 engines running, aircraft momentum was not sufficient to coast to stopping point. Aircraft stopped a few ft short of parking point and minimal power was added to get to the normal stopping position. Just as I added the power, a baggage tug pulling 4 empty baggage containers drove behind my aircraft and directly in front of a parked small transport. One of the containers, the third one in the line of 4, came off the transporter and bumped into the propeller of the small transport, which fortunately did not have engines running. In view of the cramped conditions in that parking area, and the traffic of ground equipment, I feel that aircraft should taxi with all engines running inbound in order to have sufficient residual thrust to coast into gates west/O need to add power. Furthermore, ground personnel should be hesitant to drive directly behind an aircraft whose engines are running, especially if the ground people are towing high profile, empty containers!

Title: ACR LGT BLEW A BAGGAGE CARRIER INTO ANOTHER ACFT AS IT ADDED THRUST TO COMPLETE TAXIING TO THE GATE AT LAX.

Narrative: PULLING INTO GATE IN LAX WITH 2 ENGS RUNNING, ACFT MOMENTUM WAS NOT SUFFICIENT TO COAST TO STOPPING POINT. ACFT STOPPED A FEW FT SHORT OF PARKING POINT AND MINIMAL PWR WAS ADDED TO GET TO THE NORMAL STOPPING POS. JUST AS I ADDED THE PWR, A BAGGAGE TUG PULLING 4 EMPTY BAGGAGE CONTAINERS DROVE BEHIND MY ACFT AND DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF A PARKED SMT. ONE OF THE CONTAINERS, THE THIRD ONE IN THE LINE OF 4, CAME OFF THE TRANSPORTER AND BUMPED INTO THE PROP OF THE SMT, WHICH FORTUNATELY DID NOT HAVE ENGS RUNNING. IN VIEW OF THE CRAMPED CONDITIONS IN THAT PARKING AREA, AND THE TFC OF GND EQUIP, I FEEL THAT ACFT SHOULD TAXI WITH ALL ENGS RUNNING INBND IN ORDER TO HAVE SUFFICIENT RESIDUAL THRUST TO COAST INTO GATES W/O NEED TO ADD PWR. FURTHERMORE, GND PERSONNEL SHOULD BE HESITANT TO DRIVE DIRECTLY BEHIND AN ACFT WHOSE ENGS ARE RUNNING, ESPECIALLY IF THE GND PEOPLE ARE TOWING HIGH PROFILE, EMPTY CONTAINERS!
