Cargo flight from narita, japan, to seoul, korea, at FL390. Main deck cargo smoke detector zone 3 illuminated with fire bell. Completed emergency procedures, declared an emergency and diverted to nogata, japan. At approximately 10000' warning light went out. On approach when landing check was accomplished left wing gear was not down and locked. Alternate gear extension procedure accomplished and safe gear indication. Upon landing, an inspection of cargo showed no signs of fire. Flight continued to seoul.
