Narrative:

I was participating in the warbirds portion of the okc air show. Landed at okc, on runway 17R. Attended pilots briefing that evening. No mention was made during the briefing of the temperature installation of an arresting cable system for the experimental fighter that was at the air show. It was installed approximately 1000-1500' from the end of runway 17R. There were no lights on the equipment (located on both sides of the runway), which was securely anchored in the grass next to pavement. We flew formation flts during the air show and landed in close sequence, alternating left and right sides of runway in case of an overrun in the landing run. We were encouraged to land on last half of runway and expected to clear runway as soon as possible. The plane in front of me landed on left side of the runway so I landed on right side. I landed approximately half way down runway 17R and kept my speed up with tail up for better visibility down the runway. I kept my aircraft on the right edge of the runway during the roll out. The plane landing behind me turned it's landing lights on and then off so as I approached the end of the runway I reduced speed and let the tail wheel down. As I approached the end of the runway, I eased over to the right a little to check if the plane landing behind me was slow enough for me to cross the runway to exit on the left side. This was when my right wing tip scraped the arresting cable mechanism. I did not see it at all and didn't know what was out there until calling the tower after taxiing back to the ramp. It was minor damage to the wing tip, but it was frightening that this equipment was unlit and we weren't briefed about it being there! Another pilot said he had a near miss with the equipment on the left side of the runway and only saw it just as he went by a few feet away. Please help get lights on this equipment at night and let pilots know when it is a temperature installation like this.

Title: GA PLT INVOLVED IN AIRSHOW ACTIVITY AT OKC HITS UNLIGHTED TEMPORARY ARRESTING CABLE EQUIPMENT LOCATED ADJACENT TO RWY 17R.

Narrative: I WAS PARTICIPATING IN THE WARBIRDS PORTION OF THE OKC AIR SHOW. LANDED AT OKC, ON RWY 17R. ATTENDED PLTS BRIEFING THAT EVENING. IT WAS INSTALLED APPROX 1000-1500' FROM THE END OF RWY 17R. THERE WERE NO LIGHTS ON THE EQUIP (LOCATED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE RWY), WHICH WAS SECURELY ANCHORED IN THE GRASS NEXT TO PAVEMENT. WE FLEW FORMATION FLTS DURING THE AIR SHOW AND LANDED IN CLOSE SEQUENCE, ALTERNATING L AND R SIDES OF RWY IN CASE OF AN OVERRUN IN THE LNDG RUN. WE WERE ENCOURAGED TO LAND ON LAST HALF OF RWY AND EXPECTED TO CLR RWY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THE PLANE IN FRONT OF ME LANDED ON L SIDE OF THE RWY SO I LANDED ON R SIDE. I LANDED APPROX HALF WAY DOWN RWY 17R AND KEPT MY SPD UP WITH TAIL UP FOR BETTER VISIBILITY DOWN THE RWY. I KEPT MY ACFT ON THE R EDGE OF THE RWY DURING THE ROLL OUT. THE PLANE LNDG BEHIND ME TURNED IT'S LNDG LIGHTS ON AND THEN OFF SO AS I APCHED THE END OF THE RWY I REDUCED SPD AND LET THE TAIL WHEEL DOWN. AS I APCHED THE END OF THE RWY, I EASED OVER TO THE R A LITTLE TO CHK IF THE PLANE LNDG BEHIND ME WAS SLOW ENOUGH FOR ME TO CROSS THE RWY TO EXIT ON THE L SIDE. THIS WAS WHEN MY R WING TIP SCRAPED THE ARRESTING CABLE MECHANISM. I DID NOT SEE IT AT ALL AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS OUT THERE UNTIL CALLING THE TWR AFTER TAXIING BACK TO THE RAMP. IT WAS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE WING TIP, BUT IT WAS FRIGHTENING THAT THIS EQUIP WAS UNLIT AND WE WEREN'T BRIEFED ABOUT IT BEING THERE! ANOTHER PLT SAID HE HAD A NEAR MISS WITH THE EQUIP ON THE L SIDE OF THE RWY AND ONLY SAW IT JUST AS HE WENT BY A FEW FEET AWAY. PLEASE HELP GET LIGHTS ON THIS EQUIP AT NIGHT AND LET PLTS KNOW WHEN IT IS A TEMP INSTALLATION LIKE THIS.
