Narrative:

It is a gray area to me, the company and FAA in which you are 'legal to start, you're legal to finish.' I recently flew 34.4 hours in 7 days. However, before I started the trip I was legal time-wise with the amount of time the trip was blocked for. The second day of the trip I accumulated 28.3 hours (with the start of the second day). The second day was blocked for 6.1 hours which put me at 34.4. Am I legal because I flew over trip block? Or does it go by the day in which I exceeded 34 hours by .4? I believe it must be clearly written how this must be interpreted. I've asked the opinion of 3 experienced capts, all of whom gave me different interpretations.
