Narrative:

We were air carrier flight xyz and were told to change to a new frequency, which we did. The controller acknowledged our report on the 'new' frequency--'roger, flight xz.' noting the mistake, I felt we could correct his misunderstanding of the flight # at the next communication. But soon, within 2 mins, I heard him give a command to our company flight xz, and that flight answered. We then checked in again as air carrier flight xyz, and he told us we were on the wrong frequency. We received a new frequency from him and when we checked on, they gave us a 50 degree right turn for a minute or so. I knew the cause was my not ensuring correct information when I should have, right then!
