Narrative:
I was handed off to martin state (baltimore approach control) tower, and I was prompted for location, intentions, etc. I inadvertently said, 'northwest of airport, inbound,' when I was actually northeast of airport. I had been monitoring tower frequency prior to handoff and knew about the 2 on the roll, and I watched them take off and turn northeast to south (toward me). I expected an advisory, got none, then was told that I was northeast of airport, not northwest. Feeling sick to my stomach, I apologized and ripped this out of AOPA aviation, went up to the tower and grovelled, and filled this out. Inadvertent positioning--I am occasionally dyslexic.

Title: PLT OF GA SMA GAVE HIS POSITION AS NW OF ARPT WHEN ACTUAL POSITION WAS NE. ERROR RESULTED IN TWR ALLOWING DEPARTING FGT'S TO TURN TOWARD THE REPORTER.
Narrative: I WAS HANDED OFF TO MARTIN STATE (BALTIMORE APCH CTL) TWR, AND I WAS PROMPTED FOR LOCATION, INTENTIONS, ETC. I INADVERTENTLY SAID, 'NW OF ARPT, INBND,' WHEN I WAS ACTUALLY NE OF ARPT. I HAD BEEN MONITORING TWR FREQ PRIOR TO HDOF AND KNEW ABOUT THE 2 ON THE ROLL, AND I WATCHED THEM TAKE OFF AND TURN NE TO S (TOWARD ME). I EXPECTED AN ADVISORY, GOT NONE, THEN WAS TOLD THAT I WAS NE OF ARPT, NOT NW. FEELING SICK TO MY STOMACH, I APOLOGIZED AND RIPPED THIS OUT OF AOPA AVIATION, WENT UP TO THE TWR AND GROVELLED, AND FILLED THIS OUT. INADVERTENT POSITIONING--I AM OCCASIONALLY DYSLEXIC.
