Narrative:

Level at 8000', ATC cleared us to climb to 13000'. Right then we got a TCASII TA at 2 O'clock, 2 mi + 05. The climb had already commenced, so we immediately applied forward pressure (not violently) to reduce the climb. As this was happening we saw the traffic (light transport Y) VFR at 8500' and got an RA to 'reduce climb.' traffic passed 400' overhead. ATC gave us a TA after he issued a clearance to climb 'into' the traffic. I told him about our RA. He said to stand by, and that was it! I asked the controller if he was working the traffic and he said affirmative. I didn't, but should have questioned him as to why he climbed us into known traffic.

Narrative: LEVEL AT 8000', ATC CLRED US TO CLB TO 13000'. RIGHT THEN WE GOT A TCASII TA AT 2 O'CLOCK, 2 MI + 05. THE CLB HAD ALREADY COMMENCED, SO WE IMMEDIATELY APPLIED FORWARD PRESSURE (NOT VIOLENTLY) TO REDUCE THE CLB. AS THIS WAS HAPPENING WE SAW THE TFC (LTT Y) VFR AT 8500' AND GOT AN RA TO 'REDUCE CLB.' TFC PASSED 400' OVERHEAD. ATC GAVE US A TA AFTER HE ISSUED A CLRNC TO CLB 'INTO' THE TFC. I TOLD HIM ABOUT OUR RA. HE SAID TO STAND BY, AND THAT WAS IT! I ASKED THE CTLR IF HE WAS WORKING THE TFC AND HE SAID AFFIRMATIVE. I DIDN'T, BUT SHOULD HAVE QUESTIONED HIM AS TO WHY HE CLBED US INTO KNOWN TFC.
