Narrative:

I departed sgj with a student pilot friend. We climbed to 1000' and flew south along the coast sightseeing. Just north of crescent beach we circled over the condo complex where my friend was staying. After 2-3 circles at 1000', we flew east over the ocean, climbed to 2500' doing clearing turns. About 1/4 mi offshore we did aerobatics parallel to the shoreline for 4-5 mins. The highest we went was 3500', and the lowest 2000' during aerobatic flight. We then departed the area. I would not have realized that I had been within 4 NM of an arwy at that spot except that the airport received a noise complaint (the wind was blowing on shore). A woman who said she lived in a trailer park (that was adjacent to my friend's condo complex) called the sgj FBO with my north#. She also said that aircraft were always flying over her trailer and she didn't like it (this was the first time I ever did aerobatics in this area). The woman left no name or phone #. I had believed that my procedures were safe and legal. But another aerobatic pilot that had been at the FBO said that no, at that place I was too close to 2 arwys. Consulting a jax sectional chart, I found that I had been between V51 and V3 (2 1/2 NM from the centerline of each). Corrective actions: consult my chart prior to beginning any flight where aerobatics may be performed.
