Narrative:

After landing at ewr on runway 22L, we were cleared to taxi across 22R; departure traffic would hold for us. As we crossed, I was watching the hold aircraft to my right to be sure. Then looked for 22R hold short line to get off active runway. As I was passing hold short line, I looked left to see another aircraft rapidly approaching on outer taxiway. Our nose would not let his right wing clear and he didn't appear to be stopped (his taxi lights were off and thus difficult to see at night). To avoid any sudden stops and possible contact with other aircraft, I hurriedly crossed outer taxiway and stopped on inner taxiway to allow other aircraft to safely pass behind. The other aircraft was also an medium large transport. Because of the lack of length of taxiway east, when clearing runway 22R our aircraft is also on outer taxiway. I suspect the xfer of control from local controller to ground controller was not properly coordinated. A contributing factor was the lack of lighting on the other aircraft, making it hard for me to see him as well as for the controllers.

Title: FLT CREW OF MLG CLEARED TO CROSS RWY AND APCHING OUTER TXWY CAPT SAW ANOTHER MLG APCHING FROM LEFT ON THE OUTER TXWY. REPORTER CAPT HURRIED HIS TAXI ACROSS THE OUTER TXWY TO EVADE THE ONCOMING MLG.

Narrative: AFTER LNDG AT EWR ON RWY 22L, WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI ACROSS 22R; DEP TFC WOULD HOLD FOR US. AS WE CROSSED, I WAS WATCHING THE HOLD ACFT TO MY RIGHT TO BE SURE. THEN LOOKED FOR 22R HOLD SHORT LINE TO GET OFF ACTIVE RWY. AS I WAS PASSING HOLD SHORT LINE, I LOOKED LEFT TO SEE ANOTHER ACFT RAPIDLY APCHING ON OUTER TXWY. OUR NOSE WOULD NOT LET HIS RIGHT WING CLR AND HE DIDN'T APPEAR TO BE STOPPED (HIS TAXI LIGHTS WERE OFF AND THUS DIFFICULT TO SEE AT NIGHT). TO AVOID ANY SUDDEN STOPS AND POSSIBLE CONTACT WITH OTHER ACFT, I HURRIEDLY CROSSED OUTER TXWY AND STOPPED ON INNER TXWY TO ALLOW OTHER ACFT TO SAFELY PASS BEHIND. THE OTHER ACFT WAS ALSO AN MLG. BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF LENGTH OF TXWY E, WHEN CLRING RWY 22R OUR ACFT IS ALSO ON OUTER TXWY. I SUSPECT THE XFER OF CTL FROM LCL CTLR TO GND CTLR WAS NOT PROPERLY COORDINATED. A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR WAS THE LACK OF LIGHTING ON THE OTHER ACFT, MAKING IT HARD FOR ME TO SEE HIM AS WELL AS FOR THE CTLRS.
