Narrative:

I called san angelo (sjt) FSS to obtain a WX briefing and file a flight plan. I began by stating 'small aircraft X what are the prospects for a VFR flight expectation to depart midland airpark (mdd) at AM00L, climbing to 6500 ft sbound to heath canyon on the river, then eastbound along the river to del rio (drt), 30 minute fuel stop at drt then direct to mdd.' after the WX briefing by a FSS who later gave his initials of 'xy' for identify, I filed the following DVFR flight plan route: mdd direct 29 degree 27 mins north - 102 degree 50 mins west (ADIZ entry point) descend 700 ft AGL via river east to 29 degree 21 mins north - 100 degree 57 mins west (ADIZ exit point) direct drt. In the remarks section was cap aircraft and ADIZ entry time, takeoff plus 1 hour 35 mins. The FSS appeared to have a problem copying as I was asked to repeat some parts of the route. The route was flown exactly as I had filed it with no excursions into mexican airspace (later confirmed by customs radar). After landing at drt I discovered there was some confusion over the route, as the FSS had filed the route from 29 degree 27 mins north - 102 degree 50 mins west direct to 29 degree 21 mins north - 100 degree 57 mins west. Not via river east as I had requested. This direct routing would have carried me 28 mi south of the border into mexican airspace, which did not happen. The only possible corrective action that I see would be to get a readback of the routing from the FSS to assure the routing is correct. We have in the past canned our routes and will do so in the future.

Title: FSS CTLR MISFILED DVFR FLT PLAN ROUTE. OPDEV.

Narrative: I CALLED SAN ANGELO (SJT) FSS TO OBTAIN A WX BRIEFING AND FILE A FLT PLAN. I BEGAN BY STATING 'SMA X WHAT ARE THE PROSPECTS FOR A VFR FLT EXPECTATION TO DEPART MIDLAND AIRPARK (MDD) AT AM00L, CLBING TO 6500 FT SBOUND TO HEATH CANYON ON THE RIVER, THEN EBOUND ALONG THE RIVER TO DEL RIO (DRT), 30 MINUTE FUEL STOP AT DRT THEN DIRECT TO MDD.' AFTER THE WX BRIEFING BY A FSS WHO LATER GAVE HIS INITIALS OF 'XY' FOR IDENT, I FILED THE FOLLOWING DVFR FLT PLAN ROUTE: MDD DIRECT 29 DEG 27 MINS N - 102 DEG 50 MINS W (ADIZ ENTRY POINT) DSND 700 FT AGL VIA RIVER E TO 29 DEG 21 MINS N - 100 DEG 57 MINS W (ADIZ EXIT POINT) DIRECT DRT. IN THE REMARKS SECTION WAS CAP ACFT AND ADIZ ENTRY TIME, TKOF PLUS 1 HR 35 MINS. THE FSS APPEARED TO HAVE A PROBLEM COPYING AS I WAS ASKED TO REPEAT SOME PARTS OF THE RTE. THE RTE WAS FLOWN EXACTLY AS I HAD FILED IT WITH NO EXCURSIONS INTO MEXICAN AIRSPACE (LATER CONFIRMED BY CUSTOMS RADAR). AFTER LNDG AT DRT I DISCOVERED THERE WAS SOME CONFUSION OVER THE RTE, AS THE FSS HAD FILED THE RTE FROM 29 DEG 27 MINS N - 102 DEG 50 MINS W DIRECT TO 29 DEG 21 MINS N - 100 DEG 57 MINS W. NOT VIA RIVER E AS I HAD REQUESTED. THIS DIRECT ROUTING WOULD HAVE CARRIED ME 28 MI S OF THE BORDER INTO MEXICAN AIRSPACE, WHICH DID NOT HAPPEN.
