Narrative:

During arrival into tampa international airport at 11000' MSL on the pie 132 degree/35 DME, tampa approach called out traffic at our 9 O'clock position climbing from 10000' to 12000'. The traffic was reported to have us in sight. The traffic continued climbing through our altitude on a converging course. We commenced an immediate descent to 10600' to insure vertical sep. As the traffic neared, we observed him initiate a climbing left turn and pass directly overhead at approximately 500'. We resumed cruise at 11000' and the remainder of the approach and landing at tampa were uneventful.
