Narrative:

Normal procedure is for F/east to copy ATIS and pass up to pilots with landing data card. New F/east copied visuals to 30 left/right instead of lda visuals to 30 left/right as stated on ATIS. On both approach control frequencys, we were told to expect visuals to 30L, no mention of lda. At about 1400' afl and 5 mi out, we were cleared to follow the lda for a visibility approach. Obviously, much scrambling in cockpit for correct frequency and we xed over lda localizer. An aircraft was on approach to the right, however, visibility contact was maintained and sep assured. A few lessons learned. First, a more thorough preview of the airport pages prior to entering the airspace, plus, an attempt to monitor ATIS should be made by the captain, although this can be difficult at busy times, ie, entering busy terminal areas when two pilots need to be monitoring ATC.

Title: ACR LGT FLT CREW WAS NOT PREPARED FOR AN LDA VISUAL TO RWY 30L AT STL. THE SO HAD FAILED TO GIVE THE CAPT THE COMPLETE ATIS THAT CONTAINED AN ADVISORY TO EXPECT THE LDA AND THE CAPT DID NOT HAVE THE LDA APCH PAGE HANDY.

Narrative: NORMAL PROC IS FOR F/E TO COPY ATIS AND PASS UP TO PLTS WITH LNDG DATA CARD. NEW F/E COPIED VISUALS TO 30 L/R INSTEAD OF LDA VISUALS TO 30 L/R AS STATED ON ATIS. ON BOTH APCH CTL FREQS, WE WERE TOLD TO EXPECT VISUALS TO 30L, NO MENTION OF LDA. AT ABOUT 1400' AFL AND 5 MI OUT, WE WERE CLRED TO FOLLOW THE LDA FOR A VIS APCH. OBVIOUSLY, MUCH SCRAMBLING IN COCKPIT FOR CORRECT FREQ AND WE XED OVER LDA LOC. AN ACFT WAS ON APCH TO THE R, HOWEVER, VIS CONTACT WAS MAINTAINED AND SEP ASSURED. A FEW LESSONS LEARNED. FIRST, A MORE THOROUGH PREVIEW OF THE ARPT PAGES PRIOR TO ENTERING THE AIRSPACE, PLUS, AN ATTEMPT TO MONITOR ATIS SHOULD BE MADE BY THE CAPT, ALTHOUGH THIS CAN BE DIFFICULT AT BUSY TIMES, IE, ENTERING BUSY TERMINAL AREAS WHEN TWO PLTS NEED TO BE MONITORING ATC.
