Narrative:
During descent into ZZZ below 16000 ft there was a strong cigarette smoke like smell coming from a unknown source. No smoke was visible. The smell came and went throughout the descent approach and landing. It dissipated upon block in. Priority handling was requested from ATC as a precaution.
