Narrative:

Had a longer release with dispatch about all the closures/construction going on at bih. The last thing I said before release was 'I think I'll be good if I taxi toward 8-26 because that runway isn't closed.' the notams are somewhat unclear to me. What exactly does work in progress mean? Closed intermittently?after checking the notams again. Construction worker telling me to turn around. Barricades further down the taxiway. Unclear taxiway construction markings. Poor visuals on airport diagram 10-9. I felt very helpless in this situation. After seeing more barricades which I could not see from my parking spot I realized my mistake; stopped; and made a 180 with assistance from a construction worker. When I now was able to get onto a good portion of the taxiway; an FBO worker; and the same construction worker marshaled me through the tightest area of the ramp. I estimate less than 1 feet of clearance between a trailer and a jet. I did see this from my parking spot but thought it was too narrow to pass safely. We need better taxi diagrams. Especially when construction is going on. This airport is becoming unsafe to operate at.
