Narrative:
I was doing an extended downwind for traffic pattern 29R and a had an obstacle warning come from a lighted tower. I immediately turned away from the tower for a base turn and the alert stopped. The alert trigger is based on speed and altitude trends. I had the tower in sight and never perceived any collision risk based on the planned turn.
