Narrative:
Aircraft lh medium large transport landing gear aft trunnion pin sheared during landing; gouging the medium large transport support beam. I was assigned by supervision and engineering to blend the two damaged areas and provide dimensions after the blends were complete. I was given an avo 8258 by engineering that provided detailed instructions regarding the blend requirements. After completing the blend; I documented the blends and made updates to have inspection perform fluorescent penetrant inspection ref avo 8258. Was informed by inspection today that the airplane had been quarantined. At the time I blended the damage; I was not aware the aircraft was in quarantine and was doing as instructed.

Title: Technician reported repairing aircraft damage on a B737-800 that was quarantined because of miscommunication.
Narrative: Aircraft LH MLG landing gear aft trunnion pin sheared during landing; gouging the MLG support beam. I was assigned by supervision and engineering to blend the two damaged areas and provide dimensions after the blends were complete.
