Narrative:

Aircraft had inoperative fuel gauge (2L). Ground crew had trouble fueling widebody transport in anc and had to magnastick check tank 3 times. Assured crew sufficient fuel in tank 2L. No unusual control problems on takeoff on cruise. Approximately 2 1/2 hours into flight, tank 2L outboard tank pump low pressure illuminated, followed shortly thereafter by inboard tank pump low pressure light. After checking aircraft manuals and completing proper procedures, and after talking with base maintenance, it was determined that tank 2L was empty. Also, aircraft rolled 10 degrees/second into heavy wing with autoplt disconnected. Crew determined that not enough fuel existed to make destination and alternate. WX in slc (destination) was poor. Crew decided to divert to great falls, mt to refuel. Ground crew there confirmed tank 2L was empty. No further incidents and aircraft flew from great falls to slc.

Title: INSUFFICIENT FUEL BOARDED IN ANC, MAKING IT NECESSARY TO DIVERT LAND GTF.

Narrative: ACFT HAD INOP FUEL GAUGE (2L). GND CREW HAD TROUBLE FUELING WDB IN ANC AND HAD TO MAGNASTICK CHK TANK 3 TIMES. ASSURED CREW SUFFICIENT FUEL IN TANK 2L. NO UNUSUAL CTL PROBS ON TKOF ON CRUISE. APPROX 2 1/2 HRS INTO FLT, TANK 2L OUTBOARD TANK PUMP LOW PRESSURE ILLUMINATED, FOLLOWED SHORTLY THEREAFTER BY INBOARD TANK PUMP LOW PRESSURE LIGHT. AFTER CHKING ACFT MANUALS AND COMPLETING PROPER PROCS, AND AFTER TALKING WITH BASE MAINT, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT TANK 2L WAS EMPTY. ALSO, ACFT ROLLED 10 DEGS/SEC INTO HEAVY WING WITH AUTOPLT DISCONNECTED. CREW DETERMINED THAT NOT ENOUGH FUEL EXISTED TO MAKE DEST AND ALTERNATE. WX IN SLC (DEST) WAS POOR. CREW DECIDED TO DIVERT TO GREAT FALLS, MT TO REFUEL. GND CREW THERE CONFIRMED TANK 2L WAS EMPTY. NO FURTHER INCIDENTS AND ACFT FLEW FROM GREAT FALLS TO SLC.
