Narrative:

During level cruise at FL280, TCAS detected oncoming traffic at 11 O'clock in a descent to FL290. A traffic alert was received with the command 'traffic,' followed shortly by a RA and the command 'descend.' aircraft began a descent to FL275 and ATC was advised of a RA and of descent. Aircraft immediately climbed back to FL280. ATC called and questioned our altitude deviation.

Title: FLT CREW OF MLG AT FL280 HAD TCAS RA, DESCEND. FLT CREW DESCENDED ACFT TO 27500' UNTIL TCAS SATISFIED, THEN RETURNED TO FL280. ATC ADVISED OF REASON FOR ALT DEVIATION.

Narrative: DURING LEVEL CRUISE AT FL280, TCAS DETECTED ONCOMING TFC AT 11 O'CLOCK IN A DSNT TO FL290. A TFC ALERT WAS RECEIVED WITH THE COMMAND 'TFC,' FOLLOWED SHORTLY BY A RA AND THE COMMAND 'DSND.' ACFT BEGAN A DSNT TO FL275 AND ATC WAS ADVISED OF A RA AND OF DSNT. ACFT IMMEDIATELY CLBED BACK TO FL280. ATC CALLED AND QUESTIONED OUR ALT DEVIATION.
