Narrative:

Coming down the G/south for ILS 23 at crw, I was about 1-1 1/2 dots high. At approximately 1500' MSL the G/south indicator suddenly went to full scale low indication, then bounced back and forth up and down the scale, showing high 1 second and low the next. This being at 300' above DH in IMC. At this point we went missed approach. The controller said what we thought was a left to 360 degrees. We came back around and landed. The second approach was uneventful. Upon landing the controller said they had instructed us to turn right to 360 degrees. The instructions were misunderstood due to severity of missed approach and pilot workload. Supplemental information from acn 170721: believe mistake was due to abnormally high workload of missed approach/go around and habitual readback of clearance without listening to and/or fully understanding directions.

Title: GO AROUND ACCOUNT UNSTABLE APCH AND FAILED TO COMPLY WITH CLRNC TO TURN RIGHT TO 360 DEGREES.

Narrative: COMING DOWN THE G/S FOR ILS 23 AT CRW, I WAS ABOUT 1-1 1/2 DOTS HIGH. AT APPROX 1500' MSL THE G/S INDICATOR SUDDENLY WENT TO FULL SCALE LOW INDICATION, THEN BOUNCED BACK AND FORTH UP AND DOWN THE SCALE, SHOWING HIGH 1 SECOND AND LOW THE NEXT. THIS BEING AT 300' ABOVE DH IN IMC. AT THIS POINT WE WENT MISSED APCH. THE CTLR SAID WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS A LEFT TO 360 DEGS. WE CAME BACK AROUND AND LANDED. THE SECOND APCH WAS UNEVENTFUL. UPON LNDG THE CTLR SAID THEY HAD INSTRUCTED US TO TURN RIGHT TO 360 DEGS. THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE MISUNDERSTOOD DUE TO SEVERITY OF MISSED APCH AND PLT WORKLOAD. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 170721: BELIEVE MISTAKE WAS DUE TO ABNORMALLY HIGH WORKLOAD OF MISSED APCH/GAR AND HABITUAL READBACK OF CLRNC WITHOUT LISTENING TO AND/OR FULLY UNDERSTANDING DIRECTIONS.
