Narrative:

Rdm tower cleared us for takeoff from runway 5 with a right turn to 110 degrees. At 400 feet I started the turn and saw an aircraft at 1;000 feet agl on a converging inbound course of about 290 degrees; pointing right at us. ATC pointed the traffic out; and to avoid collision we initiated a left turn back to runway heading until clear of conflict. We heard 'traffic; traffic;' but our turn preempted an RA. Closest separation was about two miles.
