Narrative:

After taking off all gauges were in the green. Upon reaching 600 feet on 050 heading; instructor pilot noticed a rise in egt 1 and slow rise in temperature for cht 1. Instructor leveled aircraft in attempt to cool engine around 800 feet. Cylinder head temperature went into red and instructor asked to return to ZZZ for hot cylinder temperature. Instructor then called tower and asked for runway xx for landing. During short approach the temperatures came back to normal.
