Narrative:
Flying through cajon pass. Departed ccb. Was proceeding northeast towards entrance of pass, gradually climbing. Made turn around ridgeline at base of pass to turn into pass. As I came around ridgeline met helicopter coming other direction hugging close to ridgeline as I was. Evasive action taken by both aircraft. I broke left and up, he broke down and his left. I was sightseeing and was lower than normal. Both aircraft hugging ridgeline delayed initial sighting until very close. Helicopter looked like county sheriffs helicopter.

Narrative: FLYING THROUGH CAJON PASS. DEPARTED CCB. WAS PROCEEDING NE TOWARDS ENTRANCE OF PASS, GRADUALLY CLBING. MADE TURN AROUND RIDGELINE AT BASE OF PASS TO TURN INTO PASS. AS I CAME AROUND RIDGELINE MET HELI COMING OTHER DIRECTION HUGGING CLOSE TO RIDGELINE AS I WAS. EVASIVE ACTION TAKEN BY BOTH ACFT. I BROKE L AND UP, HE BROKE DOWN AND HIS L. I WAS SIGHTSEEING AND WAS LOWER THAN NORMAL. BOTH ACFT HUGGING RIDGELINE DELAYED INITIAL SIGHTING UNTIL VERY CLOSE. HELI LOOKED LIKE COUNTY SHERIFFS HELI.
