Narrative:

We came in from ZZZ on the korry arrival; cleared dials at 2500 and then the express visual 31. We crossed dials at 2500 and turned to 085 per approach plate 19-2. Started to pick up that tower was busy. Captain was flying and was a little right on the expressway to generate more spacing. Got configured early; still not cleared to land. Ran landing checklist early; still not cleared to land. I did not make '1000 configured' call. Passed citi field at 800 and we noticed it was going to be tight so we discussed making south turns on final. Also planned to turn late to get more spacing and start south turns on final. Made turn to final but still not cleared to land. Tower called go-around at 500 feet or so because of traffic on the runway and told us to climb to 2000 and head 340. Captain called for 'go-around; toga; flaps 2'. I raised flaps to 2; set heading and set altitude to 2000. We started to climb but I did not call positive rate. I noticed gear were still down and asked captain if he wanted gear up. We raised the gear and cleaned up the flaps; then set 210 KIAS. Tower told us to call 120.8. We switched to departure; then approach and set up for rnv 31. Approach sent us direct lga; told to head 270 out of lga. About a minute out of lga; approaching manhattan; approach asked us if we wanted a full or short approach; we had preceding traffic and the tanks in sight so we took short vectors. Headed to dials at 2500; cleared the express visual 31. Crossed dials at 2500 and started to descend. Got configured early. Tower cleared us to land and asked if we had any problems going to 120.8 on the go around; we said no problems. Finished the landing checklist. Flew the express visual 31. We were a little high passing citi field. Called 1000 configured. Rolled out on final and looked high on the vasis. High but correcting and on speed. At 500; we showed a little; high on the vasis; but they appear to be 1200 feet down the runway; so we were good on a visual glideslope for 1000 feet down; we were on-speed and 900 vvi so I called 500 stable. The captain landed nicely and exited at taxiway south.
