Narrative:

After takeoff we offset to the right for wake turbulence and then I got busy with after takeoff duties. When I looked up the first officer had started a right turn prior to the SID-required turn. At that point I directed her to turn back and during doing so ATC started vectoring us and giving [us] heading and altitude assignments. My distraction to monitor and having too much head down time during after takeoff check. Better briefing and expectations while flying with newer first officers; and for me to not get distracted at such critical time.
