Narrative:

A & P mechanic with private rating taxiing aircraft from hangar to passenger gate area at pdx. RVR minimal, ground radar being used. 1 of 3 company aircraft taxiing group. Aircraft taxied onto runway area west/O clearance to do so. All 3 mechanics taxiing aircraft were unfamiliar with pdx. Ground control failed to give precise progressive taxi and became confused as to which aircraft was where because of being in group. People taxiing aircraft unfamiliar with airport and in a dense fog became confused and disorientated as to where they were and what ground control wanted done.
