Narrative:

We were cleared to 10000' out of dfw. The transponder was turned to TCAS TA/RA and we were following an medium large transport. Due to the distraction of TCAS we had not reset our altimeter to qnh (company uses QFE). Upon reaching 10000' we immediately realized that we were 600' high (dfw field elevation) and descended back to 10000' and reset our altimeters to qnh. Our checklist does not require this until we reach 10000', but that we may reset to qnh anytime after leaving 3000' AGL.
