Narrative:

During takeoff and initial climb auto trim and electric trim via trim switch on pilot control wheel operated normally. Around 3;000 ft. I tried to trim via trim switch with no success. As we accelerated more control force was required and neither auto trim nor electric trim via control wheel switch would work. I briefed the captain on the issue then we transferred the controls to allow the captain to try his trim switch with no luck. We transferred control back to me while he ran appropriate checklists and communicated to all parties. Afterwards we decided to air return to ZZZ. Aircraft was hand flown utilizing manual pitch trim back to a normal approach and landing in ZZZ.
