Narrative:

We were preoccupied, with the paperwork required for a maintenance ferry flight, and started to taxi out with our rear cargo door wide open. Someone on unicom called our attention to the problem. We stopped the taxi and my first officer shut the cargo door. The ferry flight proceeded west/O incident to reading, PA for maintenance. We had overlooked the red door warning light, which was glaring at us from the warning panel.

Title: COMMUTER FLT CREW TAXIING FOR DEP ON FERRY FLT WITH CARGO DOOR OPEN.

Narrative: WE WERE PREOCCUPIED, WITH THE PAPERWORK REQUIRED FOR A MAINT FERRY FLT, AND STARTED TO TAXI OUT WITH OUR REAR CARGO DOOR WIDE OPEN. SOMEONE ON UNICOM CALLED OUR ATTN TO THE PROB. WE STOPPED THE TAXI AND MY F/O SHUT THE CARGO DOOR. THE FERRY FLT PROCEEDED W/O INCIDENT TO READING, PA FOR MAINT. WE HAD OVERLOOKED THE RED DOOR WARNING LIGHT, WHICH WAS GLARING AT US FROM THE WARNING PANEL.
