Narrative:
Approaching fap; an object suddenly appeared in the windscreen. Before I could even communicate a warning it flew just overhead of our aircraft. Pilot flying did not see the object as it passed directly overhead within 50 feet. I immediately commented on a near miss with some type of unidentified object. My initial thought it was a large flat type of balloon although it appeared solid in nature as it flashed by. ATIS information had noted an unauthorized drone flying; which had been reported flying east of the airport north of the final approach course.
