Narrative:

Upon initial call up to ground from the ramp, we were cleared to taxi to runway 9L. Ground switched us to tower shortly after we started to taxi. Approximately 3000' before reaching the runway, the tower, unprompted, said 'cleared for takeoff, turn to heading 150 degrees.' upon reaching the pad for runways 9L and 12, I turned onto runway 12 and started my takeoff roll. At approximately 80 KTS the tower told me to abort my takeoff. I did, and there was no further incident. I have flown out of this airport for 11 months and almost every time I have a southbound departure, I depart on runway 12. I feel I was mindset that they were going to give me 12. When I was cleared for takeoff, the tower did not repeat the runway and I did not state the runway in my readback. My first officer had missed part of the call and just figured I was cleared for runway 12 and did not question me. I now write down the runway # on initial callup, and also repeat the runway # on readbacks. The tower also felt responsible and apologized twice for not catching the error sooner. We also apologized for the mixup and breakdown in communications.

Title: COMMUER LTT STARTED TKOF ON RWY 12 INSTEAD OF RWY 9R, AS CTLR EXPECTED.

Narrative: UPON INITIAL CALL UP TO GND FROM THE RAMP, WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 9L. GND SWITCHED US TO TWR SHORTLY AFTER WE STARTED TO TAXI. APPROX 3000' BEFORE REACHING THE RWY, THE TWR, UNPROMPTED, SAID 'CLRED FOR TKOF, TURN TO HDG 150 DEGS.' UPON REACHING THE PAD FOR RWYS 9L AND 12, I TURNED ONTO RWY 12 AND STARTED MY TKOF ROLL. AT APPROX 80 KTS THE TWR TOLD ME TO ABORT MY TKOF. I DID, AND THERE WAS NO FURTHER INCIDENT. I HAVE FLOWN OUT OF THIS ARPT FOR 11 MONTHS AND ALMOST EVERY TIME I HAVE A SBND DEP, I DEPART ON RWY 12. I FEEL I WAS MINDSET THAT THEY WERE GOING TO GIVE ME 12. WHEN I WAS CLRED FOR TKOF, THE TWR DID NOT REPEAT THE RWY AND I DID NOT STATE THE RWY IN MY READBACK. MY F/O HAD MISSED PART OF THE CALL AND JUST FIGURED I WAS CLRED FOR RWY 12 AND DID NOT QUESTION ME. I NOW WRITE DOWN THE RWY # ON INITIAL CALLUP, AND ALSO REPEAT THE RWY # ON READBACKS. THE TWR ALSO FELT RESPONSIBLE AND APOLOGIZED TWICE FOR NOT CATCHING THE ERROR SOONER. WE ALSO APOLOGIZED FOR THE MIXUP AND BREAKDOWN IN COMS.
