Miami center had cleared us to cross padus intersection at 5000' and issued traffic, coast guard helicopter maneuvering at 4500', 6 mi southeast of padus intersection. After contacting fpo approach control we were cleared to descend to 1500' and visibility landing runway 6 a fpo (mygf). Crossing padus intersection at 5000' coast guard helicopter appeared at 1 O'clock and level with us at 5000'. He and both took evasive action. Asked freeport approach control if he was in contact with helicopter. He informed us that he had not been talking to him at all. I was unable to contact him either.
