Narrative:

Upon opening the main cabin door; we received a master warning indicating that the left engine was running. I verified that it was not shutdown and initiated the shutdown procedure. I believe this occurred due to the thrust lever not being fully idle when parking. I was trying to deal with a ramp issue with the air stairs malfunctioning and must have been distracted by that to have not realized the before we opened the door.the shutdown checklist has a thrust lever idle item. I think we should replace it or add a new item that says engines verified off since it is possible to have an engine still running with a very slight displacement of the lever above idle.
