Narrative:

I was called in to work a sector. My d-side was told to go to another sector that had more traffic. I was ok for a little while to work without one. Traffic started picking back up and I needed a d-side; I asked for one and was told there was no one available to work my d-side. I was spacing for two airports. I was forced to spin aircraft in order to get the spacing. I needed a d-side and there was not enough controllers. I was overloaded and I felt it was unsafe to work that many aircraft. We need more people or the traffic slowed down to help keep our airspace safe.
