Narrative:

Flight being taxied to the gate in phl was on centerline during final approach to the gate. The captain stopped the aircraft because of the very close proximity of aircraft on both sides (parked at gates). The mechanic assigned to assist with parking indicated adequate clearance for continued taxiing, but when the captain began moving forward, contact was made with our right wing tip and the left wing tip of aircraft parked to our right. Minor damage to both aircraft. Supplemental information from acn 165170: I motioned aircraft to (his left) aircraft turned and proceeded fwd.
