Narrative:

Expedited short landing on inactive runway due to intermittent engine instrument indications and intermittent radio communications. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information. Traffic was heavy at lawrence airport that day. Aircraft were being extended on long finals, when I began to have engine trouble and wanted to get on the airport quickly. I aborted the traffic pattern and ducked in on the runway not being used. I could not break into the tower dialogue to get a clearance. Tower controller later said he was not processing a violation.
