Narrative:

While performing [maintenance]: install 'pull' strap on flight attendant (flight attendant) O2 masks- aft galley center (center) aisle flight attendant O2 box; found O2 canister safety pin and red streamer still installed when I opened the panel to install the pull straps. This safety pin clearly says to remove after canister installation; and should there have been an emergency requiring use of these O2 masks; it would prevent O2 canister from working at all. Per the [engineering order] task card I removed the safety pin and streamer before closing the panel and performing an operational check of the repacked O2 masks.
