Narrative:

During the visual approach; I used right aileron and left rudder to correct for the right cross wind component. The right main tire touched down first then the left. After touching down; I felt the plane was unstable. I continued to pull back the yoke to decrease airspeed and triple checked power was idle. Aircraft began to skid to the right off the runway into the sand. More left rudder may have been one way to fix the issue to get back onto center line to prevent skidding to the right.

Title: Student Pilot reported a runway excursion occurred after losing directional control on the landing roll.
