Narrative:
I flew the aircraft into TCA area to land at willow run airport for purpose of an FAA chkride. After landing and meeting with examiner we went over aircraft logs and found that the transponder did not have the appropriate sign off in aircraft log. Transponder operated well, but was not legal. Before flight I checked for inspections and airworthiness, but overlooked the transponder check. In the future a more thorough record check could prevent this.

BEFORE FLT I CHKED FOR INSPECTIONS AND AIRWORTHINESS, BUT OVERLOOKED THE XPONDER CHK. IN THE FUTURE A MORE THOROUGH RECORD CHK COULD PREVENT THIS.
