Narrative:

We were in the eighth hour of an 13 hour duty day, and the fourth leg of a 6 leg day. Assigned the dtw metropolitan 8 SID. The captain gave departure briefing and did not see the 250 KT speed restriction. I brought it to her attention and she jotted it down on notepad. After takeoff, workload was heavy, with many heading changed from ATC. Given altitude of 10000', captain leveled off and accelerated to 300 KTS. Departure then gave us a climb to 13000' and handed us off to ZOB. Upon frequency change, center gave us FL230 and normal speed. At that point, we realized we forgot the 250 KT speed restriction on the SID. Nothing about our speed was mentioned by the departure controller. Contributing factors: 250 KT speed restriction in small print, buried in the text of the SID. This are has to be in bold print and given attention. The hornet 1 in clt used to have the same problem. Controllers should remind jet aircraft cleared to 10000' and above about 250 KTS if it still applies. Long duty day on duty of XB45 am awake at hotel at XA45 am and didn't finish until XP00 pm.

Title: PLT EXCEEDED PUBLISHED SPEED RESTRICTION ON SID.

Narrative: WE WERE IN THE EIGHTH HR OF AN 13 HR DUTY DAY, AND THE FOURTH LEG OF A 6 LEG DAY. ASSIGNED THE DTW METRO 8 SID. THE CAPT GAVE DEP BRIEFING AND DID NOT SEE THE 250 KT SPD RESTRICTION. I BROUGHT IT TO HER ATTN AND SHE JOTTED IT DOWN ON NOTEPAD. AFTER TKOF, WORKLOAD WAS HEAVY, WITH MANY HDG CHANGED FROM ATC. GIVEN ALT OF 10000', CAPT LEVELED OFF AND ACCELERATED TO 300 KTS. DEP THEN GAVE US A CLB TO 13000' AND HANDED US OFF TO ZOB. UPON FREQ CHANGE, CENTER GAVE US FL230 AND NORMAL SPD. AT THAT POINT, WE REALIZED WE FORGOT THE 250 KT SPD RESTRICTION ON THE SID. NOTHING ABOUT OUR SPD WAS MENTIONED BY THE DEP CTLR. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: 250 KT SPD RESTRICTION IN SMALL PRINT, BURIED IN THE TEXT OF THE SID. THIS ARE HAS TO BE IN BOLD PRINT AND GIVEN ATTN. THE HORNET 1 IN CLT USED TO HAVE THE SAME PROB. CTLRS SHOULD REMIND JET ACFT CLRED TO 10000' AND ABOVE ABOUT 250 KTS IF IT STILL APPLIES. LONG DUTY DAY ON DUTY OF XB45 AM AWAKE AT HOTEL AT XA45 AM AND DIDN'T FINISH UNTIL XP00 PM.
